so i have always, always wanted to adopt an autistic kid. well, if you count “always” as the end of high school. i was in this club called “Best Buddies,” you may have heard of it? i was also pretty involved with OSF (organization of special needs families) and planned a candle-light ceremony for them. through best buddies, i was paired with Jeff. Jeff and i would watch movies together, go to parades together, play with his dog together, and just hang out together like any friends would.
why am i bringing up this topic right now? our family’s office is in a big building, and on the second floor of the building is a center for autistic children, and every once in while, i see them or their caretakers around. in fact, one of them just came into our center wanting lollipops, and i found it so endearing even tho others may have perceived it as a loud, mental breakdown in desperation for a lollipop. if you gotta have a lollipop, you gotta have a lollipop, know what i mean? i totally get it.
you know who some famous autistic people were/are? wolfgang amadeus mozart, tim burton, andy warhol, lewis carroll, albert einstein, isaac newton, and me. jk not me.
